I've been following Dr David Hanscom for a while now I'm a huge fan of his work and approach to some of the most difficult cases of back pain I've heard of. Dr Hanscom gave up his career as a complex orthopaedic spine surgeon to focus solely on the healing methods of mind-body medicine.
Dr Les Aria has been helping chronic pain patients for close to two decades and serves as the Lead Pain Psychologist at Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in Northern California, and has helped countless patients learn new ways of thinking about pain. Les is also one of the co-founders of Menda.Health and serves as the Chief Science Officer there.
Their collaborative work has expanded over the last couple of years and has now taken the form of a podcast, available on all the usual podcast networks, check out the links to Spotify and Apple in the buttons above. They cover topics rich in psychological nature, mindfulness, self-compassion and self-awareness, including their ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) approach to healing chronic pain.
They both also serve on the Scientific Advisory Team at Curable and have recently appeared in the beautiful new documentary Love Heals by Live Wild Films. - more on that soon!
Check it out and let me know what you think!
