This is clearly one of the main stumbling blocks that TMS sufferers come across, that often takes some time to get over or surrender to. Even when fully recovered and you're shouting TMS from the rooftops, you can still have moments of doubt and what-ifs...
Many people choose to find a TMS Practitioner, to officially diagnose their TMS in person, others just know in their gut, based on the main pointers discovered in the initial research and education phase of their TMS journey. For example, when I read "Healing Back Pain" by Dr John Sarno for the first time, I literally saw myself on EVERY page of that book, and it just clicked for me. Nothing else I had tried had worked, certainly long-term anyway. Despite having MRIs and various doctors opinions, nothing I tried had made anything any better, if anything, treatments I had tried had made me worse. Everyone is different, it is up to you to seek out professional advice and obviously rule out any medical or structural issues before considering TMS as a diagnosis.
The list is literally endless...stress inside the body with nowhere to go can manifest itself into a myriad of seemingly random symptoms, any type of soft tissue pain (muscles, joints), shakes, rashes, irritable bowel, fatigue, migraines, vision issues, vertigo...all sorts... it's crazy!
Dan Buglio from Pain-Free You created this fabulous tool, to help you discover whether the symptoms you're experiencing, could, in fact, be TMS. The fact that you've made it to this page and are reading this, then the chances are you have TMS. But many people need that extra nudge into believing it for real.
If you're still in doubt, and can't necessarily get to a TMS Practitioner to confirm this diagnosis to you personally, or you're resisting doing so, I would encourage you to assume for a second that your suspicions are true and THIS IS WHAT'S GOING ON. If any of the content in my Recovery Journey Roadmap rings true to you, and your scores on Dan's test say the same, then it's likely you do have TMS.
A lot of people find this work when they've exhausted every other option given to them, and nothing has worked, they're desperate and stuck. Sound familiar? Just try doing the work, try the steps outlined in this website and in all of the other resources I'm showing you here. Give yourself a month of dedication and commitment to these practices, and notice what happens. But follow it to the letter, missing nothing out...just surrender to it, even if you have to pretend to believe it at first, and see what happens.
Why bother trying if it's not TMS? Because belief and surrender to trying this work could be the simplest step you ever take that has the BIGGEST impact on your entire life. Living in the limbo of "what if?" creates a never-ending loop of resistance and conflict that can literally drive you mad and is the stage that so many millions of people get stuck in, with continued unnecessary suffering...
How about for now, just be curious, trust in the fact that this work will not harm you, quite the contrary, this could be the first step to jumping into your healing without having to rely on anyone else to give you a cure.
You will emerge happier, calmer, braver and you will have learnt invaluable tools to soothe your nervous system against anxiety, tension and the dreaded fight or flight scenario.
