Everyone's recovery story is going to be different. As we navigate our own personal journey through TMS, we will come across statements, facts and phrases that will resonate really deeply with us, so I used Dr Sarno's list to start to build my own list of reminders that I added to from time to time. This could be particularly helpful if you're just starting out and need somewhere to refer to for the key principles of TMS. I've shared this list a few times before in different TMS support groups and it has had such a great response that I thought I would give it its own space here too.
I will keep amending it as I find new items to add...if you have any suggestions of items to add, please let me know and I will update the list where appropriate. Then, when you are ready, and you are DONE with going over and over these reminders and you no longer need to recall these suggestions on a regular basis, you can park this page, and just refer to it when you feel you're in need of some getting back on track. As you read through this list, please feel free to replace the word 'pain' with whatever symptom you're experiencing.
A friend of mine creates her own 'post-it' note reminders made up of phrases like this that she places throughout her home, to give her a regular reminder as she went about her day. I thought that was such a great idea! At the beginning of my journey, I read this aloud to myself twice over, before I start journaling in the morning.
Read each affirmation out loud, really feel the meaning of each phrase, then when you're done, just tick it off. The next time the page refreshes, the list will be reset for next time.
It's also part of my online mini-course "Come Home to Yourself - mind-body evening rituals" learn more about my course here. Or as part of my mind-body meditations bundle (Vol 1) here.
