In these conversations, I talk to members of the chronic pain / TMS community, to discover what worked for them in their stress illness recovery. Watch the video above or click through to YouTube using the button below the video, to watch there if you prefer.
This week I interview the wonderful Grete Strunz who has an excellent understanding of TMS, built through her own success in healing herself. This conversation is packed with top tips and advice for those on their TMS journey. Grete's TMS symptoms began as a sporty 15-year-old, when she injured her knee and ended up having surgery. Over the years, in addition to the knee pain, Grete has experienced debilitating insomnia and back pain.
After reading Dr John Sarno's book and realizing her pain was caused by TMS, Grete went on to find the brilliant work of Alan Gordon on TMS Wiki. Alan Gordon is the Executive Director of the Pain Psychology clinic in LA. Alan has a team of experienced therapists who specialise in supporting those with TMS to heal. Alan's podcast 'Tell Me About Your Pain' is available here.
Grete shares some key insights in this conversation. We talk about about the importance of radical acceptance; it really is key to healing. Grete also shares the importance of affirmations and how trying various affirmations out and sensing how our mind and body respond, helps us to understand what's going on in our emotional world and where we feel particularly vulnerable. Grete also shares some great tips for journaling!
Thank you, Grete, for sharing your story, it was such a pleasure to hear from you and I hope everyone enjoys this video!
