A series of interviews and conversations where we talk to members of the chronic pain / TMS community, to discover what's working (or indeed NOT working) for them in their mind-body recovery.
I wanted to create a space where everyone in this chronic pain community could have a voice and share their breakthroughs and any lightbulb "a-ha" moments, no matter how small they may seem they could be hugely beneficial to share. This journey is different for everyone, but we can all learn so much from each other. We all have different coping strategies and modalities to becoming chronic symptom-free, so giving more of you the opportunity to share feels like the right thing to do.
Plus, it gives me the opportunity to meet more of you face to face, and further build a personality-filled community of people that actually get to know one another a little better. Which can be a huge benefit to the human connection part of recovery in itself.
In this conversation, I hear from Charlotte who found out about TMS after having sciatic pain for 15+ years and after taking the difficult decision to have a rare surgery on her spinal cord in January this year.
Since finding out about TMS through the Curable app, and work from the likes of Nicole Sachs, Dan Buglio, Alan Gordon and Howard Schubiner, Charlotte has made great strides in improving her quality of life. Whilst she still has symptoms, her mindset has changed completely and she is able to enjoy life more than she thought possible.
In this conversation, we discuss the power of indifference and how the lightbulb moment of realising she could be indifferent to the pain, helped her move from being sofa-bound and living a life dominated by fear, to a world where she is now able to enjoy fear-free days with her toddler. Something she would never have dreamed of doing a few months back.
We also explore how Charlotte has incorporated different healing modalities as part of her journey, including journaling, changing her mindset, visualisation activities and yoga. We discuss how these different approaches ultimately address the common denominator of not feeling safe. Sound familiar?
I really hope you enjoy this testimony! If you'd like to submit your story for this series, please click here, whether you're comfortable on camera or not, I would love to hear from you.
