I haven't done a podcast interview for some time so I was delighted when Emily reached out to me. The way we both teach and share chronic illness recovery work is so similar, we also share many of the same characteristics as humans (suprise suprise!) and got into some really insightful topics around cultivating safety, the nervous system and even touched on how to nagivate relationships while healing, so it's a great way to find out more about the mind-body medicine approach to healing from varied perspectives. I found this chat really fun, which given the topic is quite the gift, so expect giggles and light-hearted conversation thrown in too...my favourite!
Emily supports the Spoonie community (if you have never heard of "Spoonie" before, it is a name for anyone living with a chronic illness. The term is derived from "spoon theory," a metaphor that represents the limited energy each person have each day, like having only a certain number of spoons to perform daily tasks) and teaches her audience of self-healers how to overcome conditions such as chronic fagitue syndrome (CFS) chronic pain and other disabling conditions using her own life and her own recovery progress as the example and evidence of the efficacy of mind-body work, as I do.
Our episode is entitled "Healing from chronic pain through the mind-bodyconnection (with Dani Fagan of @mytms_journey)" and is episode 34 of Season 1. You can find The Spoonie Podcast on Spotify here, Apple Podcasts here or wherever you prefer to listen to your pods.
I think you're going to love this one (I know I always say that, but seriously). I love making connections with good people in this community, and as you know I don't share anything and everything on this site. Thank you so much sweet Emily for having me, for sharing your story along with all the ups and downs, and of course for spreading the this critical message of healing.
